Vessels of Song: Journeys Into The Worlds Of Klezmer
Cross Street Unitarian Chapel, Manchester – 7:00PM
Vessels of Song is the latest show created and performed by Klezmorim of Manchester. Through music and narration, it explores the journeys made by klezmer over the years and also the journeys made by musicians with klezmer. In addition to klezmer classics, the show incorporates songs from Yiddish theatre, klezmer-swing cross-over numbers, and even an exploration of the ways in which classical composers have worked Jewish themes into their music.

The Camerata Players: Mozart, Haydn and Schubert

Join The Camerata Players for their final concert of the year to hear some of the greatest works from the Classical and early Romantic eras, which will include Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Orchestra featuring Dylan Latham on violin and Sebastian Brooks on viola. The sinfonia concertante emerged from the Baroque concerto grosso and encompasses both elements of a classical symphony and concerto.

The University of Manchester period-instrument Baroque ensemble conducts you on an 18th-Century tour of the British Isles. Find out what was being heard by audiences in London, Dublin, Newcastle and Aberdeen around the 1750s. Music by Händel, Avison, Geminiani and the Earl of Kelly.

The Camerata Players: Mendelssohn, Disley-Simpson, Bartok and Beethoven
Holy Name Church, Manchester – 7:30PM
Join The Camerata Players who make their return this year to play one of the greatest symphonies of all time: Beethoven’s Seventh. This concert also features Mendelssohn’s The Fair Melusina Overture, a work sadly not among his most widely known works but it was one that he held in high regard, Anna Disley-Simpson’s WORKSTATION 202, the winning piece of our recent Call for Scores, and Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances, a suite of six short pieces originally for piano that was later orchestrated by the composer for small ensemble.
